The Gustaf Adolf Mine Wheel and Rod System
The Gustaf Adolf Mine’s machinery wheel was built in 1900 and was in operation until 1916. It was the last machinery wheel used at the Persberg mines. When the wheel was stopped in 1916, a 164-year-long epoch came to an end — the first machinery wheel had been built in the Yngshytte River, at the Gubbdammen, in 1752.
The crank break at the mine headframe is the only preserved one of all the breaks that existed in the system of rod lines that supplied the Persberg mines with mechanical power. One can follow the remains of the rod line from the wheel toward the crank break.
