Loading Place for the Isak and Västra Hage Mines
At this site was the loading place for ore from the Isak Mine and the Västra Hage Mine. Here the ore was loaded onto barges or boats for further transport across the lake.
Loading places were an important part of the mining transport system before the expansion of the railways. The ore was transported from the mines to the shoreline by horse and cart. In the 1850s, horse-drawn railways were built from the larger mines at Persberg to facilitate transport down to the lake, where the ore was loaded for further shipment to smelters and ironworks.
