House Foundation on Getholmen

• The house foundation is located on the western part of the island, in the forest grove on the right in the photo.

History

• The house was probably built at the same time as the new constructions on Getön in the early 1900s.

• The house was moved to Fagerbergsvägen, Filipstad in 1926.

• At the time of purchase, the current owner was told that the house came from Getön and that it was the only one on the island with a basement.

• On Getön only a small basement has been observed, but this foundation matches well with the measurements of the house on Fagerbergsvägen.

Usage

• According to Wanja Eriksson, Persberg, citing her father-in-law Victor Eriksson:

  • The building contained some type of serving or café.

  • The workforce on Getön was large, so the house may have provided both meals and lodging.
