Down to the ore dock of Östra Hage Mine, the ore was transported from the mine on a narrow-gauge railway, a so-called ”Rutschbana” (inclined plane railway).
The inclined plane railway at the mine worked as follows: to the loaded downward-going wagon, a rope was attached whose other end was connected to a barrel that hung down in a mine shaft, the weight of which was adjusted to match the weight of the wagon when loaded. When the loading of the wagon was complete, the brake was released and the wagon was braked down toward the ore dock.
When the wagon was down at the dock, the brake was engaged and the wagon was unloaded. When the wagon was emptied, the brake was released and the wagon was pulled back up to the mine by means of the barrel hanging in the shaft.
To prevent theft of ore, the area around the ore dock was fenced in. In 2023, the holes from the fence posts can still be seen.
