At Vinternäset, traffic was intense with shipments moving in both directions: iron ore and various iron products toward Filipstad, and all kinds of supplies toward Persberg and further north and east.
If one reads the freight notes describing what was delivered with Manager Uhr’s cargo boat and its rowers, it appears that pig iron was transported on behalf of Hellefors Ironworks.
For Gustavström Ironworks, bar iron and bundle iron were transported.
From the production of Fredriksberg Ironworks, blooms and various types of bar iron were shipped.
The boat also transported a considerable amount of roofing slate. Could it possibly have come from the slate quarry east of Lake Långban?
Interestingly, the freight notes do not mention Vinternäset, but instead refer to Ljungheden’s factorie (trading or industrial depot). This raises the question of where exactly the factorie itself was located.
