A water-powered pumping wheel (kunst wheel) was first built here to supply the Östra Hage Mine with pumping power.
When the Risfall Wheel was constructed near the Odal Field in 1870 — a very powerful wheel that supplied the Hage Mines, Isak’s Mine, the Great Mine, and the Alabama Mine with pumping power — the wheel at Hagefallet was converted into a hoisting wheel.
In addition to the Hage Mine, the hoisting wheel at Hagefallet also supplied hoisting power to the Torskbäck Mine on Högberget, located 725 meters away.
The canal from Lake Stora Horrsjön to Östra Hagefallet is approximately 4,500 meters long.
Along this stretch, the water passed:
the pumping wheel at Sågfallet
the hoisting and/or pumping wheels at Braskefallet
the hoisting and/or pumping wheels at the Odal Field
and finally the wheel at Östra Hagefallet
