In the records, Mörkhults Mine is mentioned in 1787:
“In the past month of January, work in this mine was discontinued, whose dimensions are described. At the bottom and in the southern stope, a vein of ore remained.”
1838: Stora Mörkhults Mine was opened from unclaimed land and operated until September 1843, when work ceased because the ore was very scattered and of little value.
1855–1860: Mining resumed by “blasting here and there the remaining ore pockets on the mine walls.”
1866: South of Stora Mörkhults Mine, an earth excavation was made over a known ore roof to access remaining ore. Work ceased already in 1868.
1880: Operations at the Mörkhult Field mines (Mörkhults and Badstu mines, then owned by the Limstjärn Company) resumed. The artificial water channel was extended from Limtjärn to the mines, totaling about 1600 meters from the wheel and turbine at Skribotjärn.
1884: Only the Mörkhults Mines were operated among the Limstjärn Company’s mines.
1885: Mining ceased at the Mörkhults Mines. Depth: western working room 76 m, eastern 68 m.
