Downstream of Kvarnfallet lay a small fall, Gatgruvefallet, with a head of approximately 1.7 metres.
Prior to the canal reorganisation in the 1860s, Gatgruvefallet is described in the records as unused.
The official mining reports concerning the Gatgruvan mine state that a water wheel for pumping and ore hoisting was erected in 1848. However, by 1855 the mine is described as having seen little activity, due to a shortage of water for the pumping works as well as a lack of labour.
Unfortunately, the remains of this wheel have also been destroyed by later excavation works.
