
In 1876, the Eastern Värmland Railway (ÖWJ) reached Persberg. When the MVJ (Mora–Vänern Railway) opened its line northwards in 1889, a new station building was put into use on the main line passing Persberg. The former Persberg station was renamed “Persbergs Grufvor”.
Construction of the railway towards the mines began in 1875 and continued until 1878, when the line reached Högberget.
