Hallhjulsfallet (Hall Wheel Fall)

Before the 1860s Regulation

The Hall wheel was the first wheel in what was known as the western branch of the Persberg Canal.

The water then passed two additional wheels:

• Horrsjö Wheel

• Trullskull Wheel

Before finally reaching Lake Yngen at Malmbergsviken.

Regulation in the 1840s

In the 1840s, the western branch of the canal was re-regulated.

• The Trullskull Wheel was removed.

• The water was instead redirected via Gubbdammen to a new wheel.

• From there, it flowed onward into Yngshytteviken.

Function and Later Changes

The Hall wheel supplied Hall Mine with mechanical power until the canal regulation of the 1860s.

During this period, a much more powerful wheel was constructed at the so-called Jordåskärr Fall, replacing the earlier installation.
