The Hall wheel was the first wheel in what was known as the western branch of the Persberg Canal.
The water then passed two additional wheels:
Horrsjö Wheel
Trullskull Wheel
Before finally reaching Lake Yngen at Malmbergsviken.
In the 1840s, the western branch of the canal was re-regulated.
The Trullskull Wheel was removed.
The water was instead redirected via Gubbdammen to a new wheel.
From there, it flowed onward into Yngshytteviken.
The Hall wheel supplied Hall Mine with mechanical power until the canal regulation of the 1860s.
During this period, a much more powerful wheel was constructed at the so-called Jordåskärr Fall, replacing the earlier installation.
